Carpet Re-stretching and Repair
I am forever being asked by customers, “Why is my carpet buckling?”, “Was it not properly installed?”, or “I paid for an upgrade, so why did I not get what I paid for?”. Poor installation or carpet quality is not always a factor in the reason carpet is buckling especially when purchased from a reputable retail store or designer. Another factor might be the temperature. If it is cold, and the carpet isn’t warmed up, it will be more difficult to stretch. When it acclimates to the warmth of the house, it will relax. Foot traffic and age of the carpet also affect it.
My involvement in the carpet industry goes back 35 years and the carpet that is being manufactured today is more difficult to install because the stiffness of the backing and latex. When the carpet is installed the backing is stiff and hard. Over time the latex softens and relaxes which causes buckling. Clene Start has a technique using a carpet stretcher that will assist the carpet to be moved back.
We can also repair your carpet after seams have come apart; cleaning solutions have bleached the carpet, or scratching. If there is no extra carpet that can be used, we can remove some carpet from the back of the closet.
What to do when Santa Spills the Milk
Every year at this time we expect to get calls because Santa has spilled his glass of milk on the family room carpet. So here we go.
Spilled milk will start to stink very quickly if it is not taken care of, and if left to dry it can smell for days. If it is still wet, cover with paper towels, stepping on them until you wick up as much milk as possible. Then pour water on the milk spot and use rags or towels, stepping on them, to remove the water and milk. (This may have to be done several times. The ideal thing is to use a wet vac.) After you have removed as much moisture as possible, spray Clene Start’s CleneR on spill, brush in, and then cover with towels or rags. Set something heavy on them and allow to dry. If all the milk was not removed there could be a dark spot show up in a few days. If this happens, mist CleneR onto stain, brush into carpet, allow to dry and then vacuum.
This process also works even if old Dad has spilled the milk!

How to Remove dog vomit from your carpets and rugs.Of course, it is very unfortunate when your dog – or a child, or anyone for that matter – vomits on your carpet. Especially when you have visitors coming over!
The smell of vomit usually makes us want to vomit too, so removing it from your carpets in your home or office becomes very important! But don’t worry, because over here at Clene Start Carpet Cleaning we are vomit stain and smell removal experts!
When your dog or child has a vomit accident, follow these steps. Remove any solids (not a very nice job – we understand!). Then use paper towels to blot up any liquids. Then mix Peroxide & Clear Ammonia 50/50, pour directly onto the vomit stain, and then soak up as much of the liquid and stain as possible. Apply the mixed solution generously and then put down a thick layer of folded towels with a heavy weight. Allow to dry for 24hrs.
